They have a lovely bowl shape, making them sit nicely on your ears. This also allows for some wiggle room on how large or small a pair of studs will work.

To illustrate this I've taken a photo with the same pink jackets that are photographed above with a pair of 1.21carat total weight studs- this same jacket is shown below with a half a pair of .77total weight studs.

The larger ones fill the jackets more fully, but both look very nice regarless.
